The Adelaide Fringe!
Fringe is one of the world's biggest and most vibrant arts festivals. It attracts artists from Europe, USA, Canada and from Asia and the Pacific. It exists to showcase what's new in the independent arts, providing broad ranging entertainment with the aim of including everybody in some aspect of the Fringe.
It is a big event and much loved and supported by the locals with attendance in 1996 reaching 811,747 and topping 857,000 in 1998.
Fringe is in the perfect environment to thrive - Adelaide's city heart is a square mile; everything is easy to locate; it is safe at night particularly during the Fringe; it's got great food, beer and wine; and it's hot dry and warm after dark in February & March.
Fringe Adelaide can turn on an event like no other city in Australia.
The Fringe produces a fantastic comprehensive guide that lists and describes every element of the Fringe Festival.
Fringe will be distributed to the public (nationally and internationally) through the local daily newspaper independent distributors, the offices and representatives of the Australian Tourism Commission and the South Australian Tourism Commission.
It will also be distributed throughout city, suburban and country regions of South Australia via Fringe sponsors, ticketing outlets, the Fringe database and more.
For Fringe 2000 the Youth & Education Program will be sent directly to schools in the fourth term of 1999 with an update sent directly to schools in early 2000.
